Rolled Garage Flooring Cleaning and Maintenance

Product Cleaning and Care of BLT Rolled Garage Flooring

Rolled garage flooring is best cleaned with soap and water. One of the nice features about this floor is that it can be easily washed off inside or outside of garage. First, using a large broom, brush or sweep the entire floor removing all the particles and loose debris.  We'd recommend a large push room to make the job less tedious.  Regular household brooms will work, but they take more time and limit how much scrubbing you can do when it comes to stuck on particles.  Next, wet the floor with water, you can use a wet mop, gently pour water on the floor from a bucket, or spray with a garden hose.  Using your push broom or squeegee, scrub the floor removing any dirt or other messes.  For more difficult cleaning, mild soaps and normal household detergents may be used. It's important that you don’t leave harsh detergents or chemicals on the product or wash them into sewer system or your yard.  Once your floor has been scrubbed clean, rinse the entire floor well with water and let dry.  Depending on your installation, some people prefer moving the product outside and hosing it off.  If you do hose your floor inside the garage, use caution so you do not spray your walls or other items.

Here are a couple other items to consider when cleaning your floor:

- Normal household vinyl cleaners may be used to increase longevity and to remove stubborn debris. Please use caution as some cleaners such as certain automotive vinyl products may cause the surface to become slippery. Never use Armor All® or similar products on any flooring. Use a non-slip vinyl protector such as a clean-and-shine floor cleaner.

- Rolled garage flooring looks great, but they are not stain-proof products.  Certain dyes, inks, rubber tires, and chemicals may cause permanent staining. Some of our customers have reported that spray-on brake and tool cleaner, found in many auto parts stores other retailers, and online, will remove some stubborn stains without damaging the product. However, use of brake and tool cleaner may cause product discoloration. Never use harsh chemicals such as tar remover or kerosene on rubber garage floors.

- After cleaning, apply a coat of floor polish for vinyl floors to add a long-lasting, high-luster finish, even to older garage floor protectors.

NOTE: Leaving chemicals on the product for a long period of time may cause damage. If concrete floor has been treated with certain sealers prior to mat installation, sealer may break down over time and adhere to back of mat without causing damage to mat. Some motorcycle kick stands may cut or damage this product.  If storing a motorcycle in your garage, we recommend putting the kick stand on a hard stable surface to reduce the risk of damage.

CAUTION—SAFETY WARNING:
Any floor surface can become slippery in the presence of moisture and debris. Proper care and cleaning of vinyl flooring will reduce the likelihood of slips and falls. Wipe up any oil, chemicals, or other fluids that may drip or leak from vehicle to prevent hazardous, slippery conditions. Always dispose of hazardous materials properly.
